A Splash Pad is a dynamic, zero-depth aquatic play area for lots of fun for the entire family, no matter what your age or ability. In addition, Splash Pads are designed in line with the American with Disabilities Act with very easy access for all to play in water during the warm summer months. Splash Pads do not require staff to be there and can still have Splash times even after school begins in August, often some of the hottest days of the year! Visit our gallery to see some of the images of some intitial design propasals we have received for Everett Park.
Frequently Asked Questions
Omaha has five, Papillion has one, Fremont has three, and many other Nebraska and Iowa communities have successful splash pads in their parks. Many Bellevue families travel to Papillion and other cities to use their splash pads.
The first splash pad location we are raising funds for is Everett Park also known as “Betz Park” on Betz Road.
It is centrally located (a few blocks South of Bellevue University).
It is a large community park with walking trails, ball fields, tennis courts, green spaces, playground equipment, and a pavilion.
It has great access with lots of parking (three parking lots).
There is already a water supply at the park.
Every donation of any amount moves the openning date closer! There are over 50,000 people living in the Bellevue city limits and more living in the neighboring SIDs. If everyone gave $10, then we could build 3 or 4 Splash Pads in our city parks. Obveously, not everyone will give $10. We are also working on grant money and have already received many donations of $50 and greater. One donation was over $2,200. Our goal can be met! Your donation will make it open sooner!
Midlands Community Foundation (MCF) granted Splash Pads for Bellevue a $10,000 Challenge Grant. EVERY DOLLAR DONATED IS MATCHED BY THE CHALLEGE GRANT UP TO $10,000. In order for Splash Pads for Bellevue to meet the requirements of the grant, we must raise matching donations from the community. If we can meet this challenge by February 29th, 2012, then we can apply for another challenge grant from MCF. We are also working on other grants and addition challenge grants.
If you can get water on you, then you can use a Splash Pad. Children, adults, even grandparents, and people any age can use a Splash Pad. Splash Pads are designed with the standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This will give Bellevue a recreational activity for children and adults with disabilities and their families.
The Splash Pad at Everett Park will be part of the public park. It is our intention that this will be FREE for everyone to use. Your donation will be payment in advance so you won't have to drive to a neighboring community to use their Splash Pads. We need yout donation to make it open sooner rather than later!
